The Rede Galega de Praias Sen Fume (RGPSF) was born in 2016 with an educational and social awareness goal with the aim of advancing in the denormalization of tobacco consumption in the population, emphasizing the
importance of the behavior of adults before the smallest, like model figures that they are.
One of the objectives of the network is for our boys and girls and youth to know that "the normal thing is not to smoke." The fact of extending the prohibition of consumption to beaches, an area that is not covered by
current regulations, makes us move forward and change the social perception of tobacco while converting this contour into educational and preventive. The involvement of different entities in this initiative, with the
active participation of society, is the ideal way to achieve it.
On smoke-free beaches, smoking is prohibited in the sand area, excluding the outdoor areas of the hospitality establishments located there. There is no surveillance or sanction for non-compliance by citizens since it
is a voluntary and personal choice. The fact of selecting a smoke-free beach as a place of leisure is, therefore, compliance with the "no smoking" rule is a personal responsibility. It is about achieving the active
participation of society in this objective of normalizing the fact of "not smoking"
